Die Cast Pins

Are die cast pins right for you?  See below for a more detailed description.  Die cast pins are the least understood pin type.  The simple answer to “do I need die cast?” is, does your pin have inner cutouts?  If the answer is no then you don’t need this style of pin.  Choose one of the other options.  Die cast pins are not stamped out of metal.  They are made by creating a mold and injecting in liquid zinc alloy metal.  The liquid metal forms to the mold creating the pin.  Most people cannot tell the different between a die struck pin and a die cast pin as they really can look exactly the same.  Besides the difference in how they are made, die cast  is the most expensive type of pin because of the production process.

They come in all the same metal finishes:  gold, silver, copper, black nickel, brass, and bronze.  Die cast pins can also be antiqued.  They can be all metal finish, or they can be hard or soft enamel.  You start to see how this can get confusing.  We always suggest one of the other types of pins but let us tell you if you need die cast.  We don’t want you to spend more than you have too.  So, the advantages are they allow for inner cutouts. So, think of a pin that is the simply the letter “B”.  Die cast allows for the white parts inside the B to be cutout.  So, these pins typically are the most unique shaped or looking pins because of the cutouts.

They are great for creating unique shaped, cutout pins that help you stand out.  Most people don’t do this style of pin so it sets you apart.  Again, die cast can be used by anyone willing to pay just a little more for a unique pin design.
