How to order

  • When you see an item you want to buy, press the "Add to Basket" button. This places the bag in an electronic shopping cart.
  • After putting all the items you wish to buy in your shopping cart, you can click on "Checkout".
  • You will then be asked to enter your account username and password.  If you're a first-time shopper, click on the link to set-up an account.  This is free and we will store your name/address and shipping information so we don't have to ask for it each time you shop.  The next time you buy something, you'll just have to enter your username and password.  Don't worry if you forget your password, it's easy to have us send it to you again.
  • You will then be asked to confirm your shipping method
  • You will then be shown the total amount of your order, including sales tax (California shipments only) and shipping charges. At this point you will need to enter your credit card information. If you wish to pay by check, enter a check number - any check number will be ok - in the box.  After confirming your selections you should click the "Next" button.
  • After you click on "Next" a page will appear that confirms your order and gives you an order number that you can use to contact us. We receive a copy of your order and pull the merchandise you requested.  If we're out of stock on an item, we'll notify you.  If paying by check, do not send any money until we notify you we have all your requested items in stock.

When we charge your card

We charge your credit card when your order is shipped, not when it is placed.

All of the items you see on our web site are in stock. However, some of the items
are in short supply.  As soon as we run out of an item, we indicate on the website
the pin is sold out.  It's possible a pin could sell out just prior to us pulling your
order.  Should an item become sold out, we'll email you with this information.

Paying by Credit Card

CheapPins.com accepts Visa, MasterCard, and American Express

You can safely enter your entire credit card number via our secure server, which
encrypts all submitted information. We guarantee that every transaction you make at
CheapPins.com will be 100% secure. This means you pay nothing if unauthorized charges are
made to your credit card as a result of shopping on our Web site.

Shipping

CheapPins.com ships most items via the United States Post Office.  If the item weighs more
than one pound Internationally, it's cheaper to ship Federal Express Ground.  The USPS now
charges higher rates to ship packages over one pound across the country.  So, if your package
weighs more than one pound, it will probably arrive via UPS ground.  We will contact you if we
need a street address.  UPS cannot deliver to post office boxes.  For international shipments,
we
ship via Air Mail or Global Priority Express.

If you require overnight delivery, please send an email to us immediately after you
place your order.

For domestic shipments, orders are packaged securely in boxes.  We have found that
bubble-wrap envelopes can damage pins.  Boxes weigh more and add to the cost of postage
and supplies but it is a very secure weigh to ship pins.  Many of our customer like these small
boxes and use them to ship pins or other items to friends.

For International shipments going via Global Priority Express, the weight of the
package isn't as important as the size.  For example, the normal charge for a small
Global Priority Express envelope to Australia is $5.00.  This cardboard envelope can
be stuffed with as many items as can possibly fit in the envelope.  If a larger
envelope is needed, the charge is higher - even if the weight is lower.

Our shipping and handling charge is designed to cover the cost of postage, the
cost of the packaging material (boxes cost 2-3x more than bubble-wrap envelopes) and a
VERY SMALL handling fee. There is a lot more
involved in shipping pins than just the cost
of postage.  It may not seem like a lot of
work or money but it does add up. We're
committed to shipping items at a reasonable
rate.  Here is the CheapPins.com shipping policy:

One pin shipped within the United States                                 $2.00 minimum shipping charge
Two - fifty additional pins shipped within the USA              $0.12 each
Fiftypins or higher shipped within the United States         $0.02/each

Using the above guidelines, if you purchase one pin the shipping charge is $2.00.
If you purchase three pins, the shipping charge is $2.24.  Six pins is $2.60

International rates are usually about $1.00 - $3.00 higher than the above examples.

The CheapPins.com shopping cart software automatically calculates the shipping
charge based on the number of items you purchase.

For International orders, we'll add an appropriate charge - if necessary - and notify you
via email.

Generally, orders are shipped twice a week from our headquarters in Ogden, UT.
California   Depending on when
you place you order, your pins could be shipped from one to seven days later.
If you require your pins quicker, please write us and we'll try to accomodate you.

worry about credit card safety while shopping at CheapPins.com. To win the trust of valuable
customers like you, CheapPins.com backs up this pledge with three iron-clad safety guarantees.

1. Safe, Secure Technology
CheapPins.com servers use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), an encryption technology that works
with the popular Netscape Navigator, Microsoft Internet Explorer and AOL Web
browsers. What this means is your credit card number is scrambled during the
transaction process and, unlike shopping at a traditional store, no human ever comes
into contact with your credit card number during the approval process.

2. Millions of Shoppers Can't be Wrong
When you shop online at CheapPins.com, you will join millions of other customers who have
safely shopped over the Internet. Once you successfully shop at CheapPins.com we're certain
you'll soon be on your way to fully appreciating the power, convenience and security
of shopping from home.

3. No-Risk Safety Guarantee
As a result of the Fair Credit Billing Act, your credit card bank cannot hold you liable
for more than $50 of fraudulent charges. If your bank does hold you liable for any of
this $50, CheapPins.com will cover the entire liability for you -- up to the full $50 -- if
unauthorized use of your credit card occurs through no fault of your own from
purchases made at CheapPins.com via our secure server.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I send pins to more than one shipping address?

Each order requires a specific shipping address. To ship to multiple addresses, you will need to
place a separate order for each shipping address.

Can people outside the United States order from CheapPins.com?
Yes.

Does CheapPins.com charge sales taxes?
Unlike traditional retail stores, Internet businesses are only required to charge sales tax on orders
that are shipped to the same state where a company is headquartered. In CheapPins.com case,
sales tax is applied only to orders that are shipped to California, as we are headquartered in
the San Diego area.

Why do you limit pins to three per customer?
CheapPins.com is for the collector - not dealers.  CheapPins.com isn't interested in being
a wholesale supplier to dealers.  Our target customer is the collector and trader.  We
span the globe making deals on large quantities of pins.  We then add a small markup
and offer them to the public.

Here's an example:  Let's say we find some NOC's from the Republic of Kajrajev.  These pins
have a street value of $10 each.  Because we buy 100 of them, we obtain them at $4 each.  We
then offer them on CheapPins.com at $5.50 each.  This allows the collector and trader to buy a
couple at a reasonable price.  If somebody purchased all 100 of them from us, the street price on
these pins would remain at $10 or, even higher!  The small collector and trader would be forced
to pay $10 or more to add these pins to their collection.

We're happy to be able to offer you a broad selection of pins at a very low price.  We must limit
the number of pins each customer may purchase to three (of each different selection) so we can
continue to offer discounted pins to all our customers.

Our shopping cart software can place limits on the number of items placed in your shopping cart.
If you are unable to place what you desire, it's because we are enforcing a limit on the
number of pins each customer may order
.

"Why DON'T you have a limit on some pins?"
Occasionally, we purchase a large collection of an individual pin - say, 500 or 1,000.  Typically,
these pins are very low cost and don't have a wide appeal.  Since there is little danger of
somebody cleaning out our inventory and raising the price on these pins, we offer unlimited
purchases.
